Novel November

Novel November is a free 30-day writing challenge hosted by ProWritingAid. The challenge is designed to help writers complete the first draft of a book. It runs from 1 to 30 November 2026.

The challenge is open to writers at all levels, from first-time writers to experienced authors. Participants need a free ProWritingAid account to take part. The goal is to write 50,000 words in November, which works out at about 1,667 words per day. Word counts can be tracked directly in Word, Scrivener, Google Docs and other writing apps. Writers working by hand can log their progress manually through the Novel November dashboard.

Benefits: Participants get access to more than 150 live workshops led by bestselling authors, covering topics such as plotting and character development. The programme also includes daily writing sprints, discussion forums, networking events, and badges and milestones that mark progress.

In December, participants receive resources on editing, publishing and marketing their book. All writing remains the participant’s own and is not shared, sold or used to train algorithms.
