Birdy Poetry Prize

The Birdy Poetry Prize is an annual poetry manuscript contest hosted by Meadowlark Press, an independent publisher based in Emporia, Kansas. The prize has run since 2019.

The contest is open to full-length poetry manuscripts. Manuscripts must be at least 55 pages, but 90 or more pages is preferred. Individual poems may have appeared previously in journals or anthologies, but not in full-length, single-author collections. Self-translated work is accepted. Poets may enter regardless of publishing history. Previous winners are not eligible, but previous finalists may enter again.

The winner receives $1,000, publication by Meadowlark Press and 50 copies of the finished book. All entries are also considered for standard Meadowlark Press publishing contracts.
