The Longleaf Press Book Contest is an annual poetry manuscript competition administered by the editors of Longleaf Press. The winning manuscript is selected by judge Roger Weingarten and will be published by Longleaf Press in early 2028.
Entrants are asked to submit an original, unpublished full-length manuscript of at least 50 pages. Individual poems may have been previously published in magazines or journals, provided the collection as a whole is unpublished. Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but entrants must withdraw if the work is accepted elsewhere. Multiple submissions require separate entries and separate fees.
The winner receives a cash prize, publication, 25 author copies, and a virtual reading. The organizers at Longleaf Press state that the event follows the CLMP Code of Ethics for literary contests.
The submission deadline is January 15, 2027. Winners are announced by April 30, 2027.
