The McNally Robinson Booksellers Poetry, Short Fiction and Creative Non-Fiction Contests are Prairie Fire Press‘s annual writing competitions, sponsored by McNally Robinson Booksellers. The contests have run since 2004 and are judged this year by Patrick Friesen (poetry), tonia laird (short fiction), and Rowan McCandless (creative non-fiction).
Entrants submit to one of three categories. A short fiction or creative non-fiction entry is a single piece of up to 5,000 words. A poetry entry is up to three poems totalling no more than 150 lines. Entries must be unpublished and not simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
Each category awards one cash prize plus an Honourable Mention, and winning pieces are published in Prairie Fire’s summer issue with payment to the author.
The $34 entry fee includes a subscription to Prairie Fire.
