The Letter Review Prize for Short Fiction, Poetry, and Books

The Letter Review Prize for Short Fiction, Poetry, and Books is an international literary prize hosted by The Letter Review, a literary journal that publishes new fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. The prize runs every four months across three categories: Short Fiction, Poetry, and Books. The book catgegoru covers unpublished, self-published, or indie-published book-length manuscripts.

Short Fiction entries should be up to 5,000 words, with no theme or genre restrictions. Poetry entries should be up to 70 lines, also with no style or subject restrictions. Book entries are excerpts from a book-length work. Fiction and nonfiction excerpts should be the first 5,000 words, and poetry collection excerpts the first 15 pages.

All three categories are open to writers anywhere in the world.

Each category has a $1,000 USD prize pool, shared equally among the top 3–4 winning entries, with up to 20 shortlisted per category. Short Fiction and Poetry winners are published by The Letter Review online and in a Winners Anthology. Books winners may optionally have an extract of up to 1,000 words published. Winners across all categories are considered for the Pushcart Prize and invited to take part in an interview series.
