Intrepid Voices Fund: Spooky Speculative Fiction Short Story Contest

The Intrepid Voices Fund is a short story competition hosted by Intrepid Imagination, aimed at supporting emerging writers early in their creative journey. This cycle’s theme is spooky speculative fiction. Science fiction, fantasy, and horror stories are welcome; contemporary and historical fiction are not eligible.

Entrants submit one original short story of up to 2,000 words. Stories may have been previously published online, in a magazine, or entered in other contests, as long as they are not part of an already-published novel or assigned an ISBN. Submissions are judged in two phases: an opening-250-words screening round, followed by full scoring of finalists against a published rubric.

Two cash awards are given each year. Finalists are asked to submit an author bio and photo, and an optional workshop session is held after winners are announced. Judges also offer optional paid written feedback for a separate fee.
