The Scribes Prize is an annual micro-fiction competition run by Fairfield Scribes, the team behind the magazine ScribesMICRO. It welcomes any genre of fiction, creative nonfiction, or prose poetry (but not line poetry) written in 90–110 words. Entrants may submit up to three stories, each accompanied by its own $5 entry fee.
Reprints and simultaneous submissions are permitted as long as the author retains publishing rights. Winning entries must be available for publication in ScribesMICRO Issue 64. Use of generative AI at any stage of writing or editing results in disqualification.
Submissions are judged in two rounds: an initial read by first-round judges, followed by a blind read of finalists by a panel of ScribesMICRO editors once the window closes on 1 October 2026. Every entrant receives an email update on their story’s status within 2–4 weeks, along with 1–2 sentences of feedback.
Prizes: Gold: $250, Silver: $125, Bronze: $60, plus 15 Honorable Mentions at $20 each. Winners and honorable mentions are published in ScribesMICRO’s Issue 64 (November 2026) with a full-page bio, photo, and interview, plus a digital award seal for personal use.
