The Henshaw Short Story Competition is organised by Henshaw Press, a UK-based independent publisher. The competition invites original, previously unpublished short fiction written in English, on any theme or subject.
Stories must not exceed 2,000 words and should be the entrant’s own work. Entries are submitted electronically via the organiser’s website and are judged anonymously. There is no requirement for previous publication or representation by an agent.
The winning story is published by Henshaw Press, with shortlisted entries also considered for publication opportunities. Results are announced by the end of April 2025.

Top prize: £200 and publication by Henshaw Press.
