Cheshire Novel Prize

The Cheshire Novel Prize is an international novel competition founded in 2022 by writer and editor Sara Cox. It accepts novels in all genres, including memoir, fictional memoir and YA. Every entrant receives written feedback on their submission.

The competition is open to un-agented writers aged 18 and over, of any nationality and living anywhere. Writers must not have had a traditional publishing deal for a novel. Self-published writers are eligible.

Entrants submit the opening 5,000 words of a completed novel, along with a synopsis. All entries must be in English. The finished novel must be at least 60,000 words.

The winner receives £1,000 and one highly commended writer receives £500. Longlisted and shortlisted writers each get a 15-minute one-to-one with the judging agents. Longlisted writers are asked for further chapters, and shortlisted writers submit their full manuscript. Writers who reach the Top 100 receive a live 1.5-hour workshop with the founder.
