Event Details
The Wild Muse Nature Writing Prize is organised by Wild Muse, founded by writer Gabriela Blandy. The prize celebrates personal writing that explores our relationship with the natural world, and is judged this year by bestselling nature writer and journalist Alice Vincent, known for works including Rootbound and Why Women Grow.
Entrants must submit an original, previously unpublished piece in English of up to 2,000 words (including the title) on the theme of nature’s power to heal, guide, and transform. The organisers welcome writing in which the natural world is an active presence — shaping thought, feeling, and change — and are open to a range of forms including essays, personal narratives, and diary entries.
The competition is open to writers worldwide. Ten bursary places are available for writers who would find the entry fee prohibitive; applicants should email the organisers with evidence of financial need before submitting.
The first-place winner receives £750; second place receives £300; third place receives £150. Winners grant Wild Muse the right to publish their work on the Wild Muse Substack; all copyright remains with the author.
Is this competition legit?YES! – Based on our research this event is legitimate and the organizer is well established. However, as with any event, please remember to do your own research before submitting your work.
