Event Details
The Book Pipeline Adaptation Contest is an annual competition run by Pipeline Media Group, seeking published books, graphic novels, comics, and short stories with strong potential for film or television adaptation. Now in its 13th year, the contest is open to writers worldwide and accepts entries across all genres, including fiction, nonfiction, memoir, and horror.
Books and graphic novels must already be published (traditionally or self-published), or due for release before January 2027. Short stories are the exception and may be unpublished. Entries are judged on concept originality, quality of writing, and viability for adaptation in the current marketplace. Fiction and nonfiction entrants should submit approximately the first 5,000 words along with a logline and a 1–3 page synopsis; short story entrants submit the complete story with a brief overview.
The winner receives $5,000 in cash, extensive project development with Pipeline’s in-house team to prepare a script or pitch, and circulation to over 200 production companies, managers, agents, and industry executives. Authors retain all rights to their work regardless of their placement in the contest.
Is this competition legit?YES! – Based on our research this event is legitimate and the organizer is well established. However, as with any event, please remember to do your own research before submitting your work.
