Scratch A4 is a bi-annual short story competition hosted by Scratch Books. Thec competition culminates in a live reading event in London. The Winter ’26 edition is judged by Leon Craig, author of The Decadence and Parallel Hells, Mehar Anaokar, an editor at Serpent’s Tail , and Tom Conaghan, publisher at Scratch Books. Entrants submit a story under 1,000 words.
The six shortlisted writers are invited to read their stories at the amazing Scratch A4 final. Scratch A4 Winter ’26 will be held in London on the evening of Saturday 5th December.
The submission window is from September 12 to 24th October 2026.
