Event Details

Organised by Calibre Audio (a registered charity that produces audiobooks for people living with a print disability), the Inclusive Voices Short Story Competition is seeking entries of up to 550 words from people of all ages.

Whether you have a print disability or not, you can take part in our short story competition. Launched as part of Calibre Audio’s 50th anniversary celebrations, Inclusive Voices aims to raise awareness of the challenges that people with print disabilities face in their daily lives. It celebrates the joy everyone can share when stories are truly accessible.

Open to UK residents.

Stories can be submitted as either narrative or verse and can be submitted in writing as a Word document or PDF; as a standard video file (MP4) or a standard audio file (MP3 or WAV). Each story should contain a print disabled character (someone who finds it difficult to read the printed word.) All stories must be submitted in English.

We are keen to encourage quality, so suggest writers to check their stories before submitting using Prowritingaid. They have free and paid versions and are the best writing software we know to help improve grammar, readability and check for repetition, ‘sticky’ sentences and suggest alternatives.
