The Amazing Writers Flash Fiction Competition

The Amazing Writers Flash Fiction Competition is an annual writing competition hosted by The Failing Writers Podcast, a UK-based, award-recognised podcast for aspiring authors. The 2026 edition requires entries to be built around the theme “Birthday.”

Entry is open to writers worldwide aged 18 and over. Submissions must be original, unpublished work not currently entered elsewhere. Entries must include the theme and a special phrase revealed in the podcast episode that launches the competition. Submissions must not exceed 300 words.

The main prize of £500 is paid via PayPal within two weeks of the winner being announced. Runner-up prizes may also be awarded at the organiser’s discretion. Winners are revealed in the podcast episode on 9 November 2026.

Entrants retain copyright in their work, though the podcast retains rights to publish entries online and in the show.
