2027 Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry Contest

The Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry Contest is a free humor poetry competition hosted by Winning Writers. Now in its 26th year, it seeks the best humor poems from writers of all ages, judged by Jendi Reiter, vice president of Winning Writers, assisted by Lauren Singer.

Entrants submit one humor poem of up to 250 lines, written in English. Both published and unpublished work is accepted. Cartoons incorporating a humor poem, or “inspired gibberish,” are also accepted formats.

The contest awards $5,100 in total prizes. First prize is $2,000 plus a two-year Duotrope gift certificate and five years of Chill Subs’ Best plan. Second prize is $500, third prize is $250, and there are 10 honorable mentions of $100 each. The top entries are published online.
