The Olga Sinclair Prize is an annual short story competition run by the Norwich Writers’ Circle, open to writers worldwide regardless of membership or experience level. Each year the competition is built around a theme connected to Norwich; the 2026 theme is “Walls,” inspired by the city’s medieval flint walls.
Entrants must submit an original short story of up to 2,000 words (excluding the title) in any genre, with the concept of walls as the central theme. Stories do not need to be set in or about Norwich — the theme may be interpreted freely, whether the walls are physical, psychological, or metaphorical. Entries are judged anonymously by an independent judge.
Ten winners are selected in total: the top three receive cash prizes (£300, £150, and £50 respectively), and all ten are published in the Norwich Writers’ Circle annual anthology.
