Event Details

The competition is organized by The Masters Review, an American literary magazine and book publisher. The competition is open to emerging writers.

For the fourth year, The Masters Review is open for submissions of literary prose chapbooks. We’re interested in collections of flash fiction, creative nonfiction essays, short stories, and anything in-between. We are not interested in poetry.

One chapbook will be selected as our winner by our guest judge, Michael Martone!

Manuscripts should be between 25-45 pages.

Manuscripts must contain some unpublished material. Previously published material cannot have been published in any other chapbook or full-length collection. (Work that was included in a multiauthor anthology is permissible.)

Entries should be in English.

We are keen to encourage quality submissions, so suggest writers to check their stories before submitting using Prowritingaid. They have free and paid versions and are the best writing software we know to help improve grammar, readability and check for repetition, ‘sticky’ sentences and suggest alternatives.
