The Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize is renowned and highly regarded for championing and launching the careers of exceptional female writers. Many of the prize’s winners and shortlistees have gone on to become bestselling and award-winning authors.
Entrants should submit the opening 10 pages of their manuscript, a one-paragraph pitch, and a one-page synopsis. Both literary and genre fiction are welcomed. Submissions close at noon (12 p.m.) on 7 January 2026. You must be an unpublished writer to enter.
The winner will receive a £1,500 prize, and all shortlisted authors will benefit from a one-on-one consultation with a literary agent at prize sponsor WME, including editorial feedback and invaluable publishing advice.
