The Galley Beggar Press Short Story Prize

Event Details

GALLEY BEGGAR PRESS is an independent publisher committed to publishing daring, innovative fiction and narrative non-fiction.

The Galley Beggar Press Short Story Prize 2020/21 is now open to submissions.

This year, the directors of Galley Beggar Press will be joined by three new judges: the bookseller, writer and publisher Sam Fisher; the literary critic and editor, Catherine Taylor; and the acclaimed short story writer and novelist, Eley Williams.

Entry costs £10 per story. The proceeds of the prize pay for the administration costs of the prize, and also raise essential funds for Galley Beggar Press (allowing us to continue to focus on new, ambitious and ‘risky’ authors).

Free entries. This year, Galley Beggar Press are also offering 150 free entries to writers on a low income, who would not otherwise be able to afford to enter the prize. These entries will be offered on a first come, first serve basis, and at the discretion of the directors.
