The 100-Word Writing Contest is an international micro-fiction competition organised by Tadpole Press and sponsored by Duotrope. The contest challenges writers to tell a complete story in 100 words or fewer, including the title. Entries may be written in any genre, and there is no set theme.
The competition is open to writers of all ages, genders, and nationalities. Multiple submissions are allowed, with a $15 entry fee per entry. Each piece must be an original short work of 100 words or less.
Pieces will be judged on creativity, uniqueness, and how the story captures a new angle, breaks through stereotypes, and expands beliefs about what’s possible or unexpectedly delights. In addition, the judges are looking for clever or unique writing that inspires and crafts a compelling and complete story.
