The Intrepid Voices Fund 2025 offers a $1,250 USD award for an outstanding speculative short story by a U.S.-based author. The award seeks imaginative works that explore the themes of winter, solstice, renewal, or new beginnings—stories that capture transformation, change, or the quiet magic of possibility.
The fund is hosted by Intrepid Imagination, an organization dedicated to supporting writers through inclusive, affordable retreats that foster creativity, connection, and renewal. Expanding its mission beyond retreats, Intrepid Imagination established the Intrepid Voices Fund to celebrate bold storytelling and amplify distinctive voices shaping the future of speculative fiction.
Finalists are selected by a panel of judges, and the winning writer receives the award to use however they choose — whether to invest in their craft, support daily life, or fuel their next big idea.
