The PURORRELATO Micro-Story Competition is organised by Casa África, a Spanish public consortium based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria that promotes cultural exchange and understanding between Africa and the rest of the world. The contest is open to anyone aged 18 or over, regardless of nationality, except staff of the organiser and previous winners of the competition.
Entrants may submit up to three original, unpublished micro-stories. The theme is open, but each story must contain some connection with Africa; the link can range from a small detail to the central focus of the narrative. Stories may take place anywhere but should avoid stereotypical portrayals of the continent.
Submissions are accepted in Spanish, English, French, or Portuguese. Each entry must not exceed 1,500 characters (including spaces, excluding the title) and must not have been previously published, awarded, or under consideration elsewhere. Entries are evaluated by a jury of experts in African literature.
Top prize: €750 (Second prize €375; Third prize €225
