The Hastings Book Festival celebrates writers and lovers of the written word – a welcoming and open place for everyone.

Hastings Book Festival Competition is open to all writers of poetry and non-fiction anywhere in the world. There are additional prizes for writers based in Sussex and writers from the LGBT community.

In each competition 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded a cash prize of £250, £100 and £50, respectively.

We are keen to encourage quality, so suggest writers to check their stories before submitting using Prowritingaid. They have free and paid versions and are the best writing software we know to help improve grammar, readability and check for repetition, ‘sticky’ sentences and suggest alternatives.
