Event Details

The final Fosseway competition of 2024 is now open! Your challenge is to write a short story in epistolary format – in other words, in letter form.

hat you write about is entirely up to you and the specific format is your choice too. You might have just one letter, or a series of correspondence and journal entries similar to those found in classics like Dracula by Bram Stoker. More recent examples are The Color Purple, We Need To Talk About Kevin, and The Historian (itself a fascinating tie-in to Dracula).

The deadline is midnight on Saturday 16th November and stories must be between 1500-2500 words with £50 going to the winner!

We are keen to encourage quality, so suggest writers to check their stories before submitting using Prowritingaid. They have free and paid versions and are the best writing software we know to help improve grammar, readability and check for repetition, ‘sticky’ sentences and suggest alternatives.
