We are inviting writers from four years of age upwards to be creative and submit an entry to this year’s Cheshire Prize for Literature. The 2023 Prize has no theme. Entrants can write about anything that inspires them
There are four categories:
- Short stories
- Poetry
- Children’s literature (Over 18’s Only)
- Scriptwriting (Over 18’s Only)
There are three age groups: primary, secondary and over 18’s.
Entrants must live or have lived, work or have worked, studied or have studied in Cheshire, Wirral, Warrington or Halton.
The judges will choose one winner from each category and a prize will be awarded to each category as well as the opportunity to be selected to appear in the Anthology, published by University of Chester Press.
Winners will be announced at our awards evening in the summer. All entrants will be invited to attend.
We are keen to encourage quality submissions, so suggest writers to check their stories before submitting using Prowritingaid. They have free and paid versions and are the best writing software we know to help improve grammar, readability and check for repetition, ‘sticky’ sentences and suggest alternatives.
