The competition is international and is open from now until the end of February. We are looking for exciting flash fiction and poetry on the theme of Lines in the Sand … the theme is purely a writing prompt and we encourage entrants to think outside the box. The Bournemouth Writing Festival website contains more information on its Competitions page, indicating what the judges are looking for and explaining how to enter.
Forty winners will be chosen and their entries will be published in an anthology prepared by a local publishing house, Dithering Chaps. The winners will receive a copy of the anthology at the launch, which will take place on 28th April in Bournemouth, as well as the opportunity to submit additional material. One of the forty winners will be chosen for publication of a collection of their work.
We are keen to encourage quality, so suggest writers to check their stories before submitting using Prowritingaid. They have free and paid versions and are the best writing software we know to help improve grammar, readability and check for repetition, ‘sticky’ sentences and suggest alternatives.
