The Arizona Authors Association Literary Contest is organised by Arizona Authors Association, a nonprofit literary organisation based in Arizona that promotes writers and publishes an annual literary magazine featuring winners. The contest accepts a broad range of work – from published books to short fiction, poetry, and unpublished manuscripts – providing cash prizes and publication in the association’s 2027 Arizona Authors Literary Magazine.
Submissions must be original works in English. Categories include Published (fiction, nonfiction, oldie but goldie, youth), Published Youth (children’s and teen/YA), and Unpublished (poetry up to 50 lines, short fiction or nonfiction up to 5,000 words, and novels/novellas/plays with a synopsis plus first 25 pages).
The competition is international, open to writers worldwide. Winners are selected by judges appointed by the association and are published in the organisation’s magazine; prizes include cash awards and event luncheon tickets where winners may be recognised.
Cash prizes are awarded at multiple levels across categories, including a Grand Prize of $500, several First Prizes of $200, Second Prizes of $125, Third Prizes of $75, and Fourth Prizes of $50, with all winning entries featured in the 2027 Arizona Authors Literary Magazine.
