It was set up to recognise and encourage creative writing and to give writers a route to publication. There is no restriction on theme or style.
Entries must be original, previously unpublished short stories written in English. Reworked versions of previously published material are not eligible. Multiple entries are permitted, and simultaneous submissions are allowed provided the story is withdrawn if accepted elsewhere. Entries can be submitted online or by post.
The winner receives €1,000 and publication of their story in a future issue of Anthology. Second place receives €250 and third place €150. Through a partnership with Reedsy Learning, the winner also receives a one-year Reedsy Learning membership. Prize money is paid upon publication.
Entries are judged anonymously on literary merit, originality and readability. Early bird entry fees of €12 (until 31 October 2026) and €15 (1 November 2026 to 31 January 2027) are available.
