Event Details

The Missouri Review, an American literary magazine, is currently accepting submissions for the 34th Jeffrey E. Smith Editors’ Prize. There are three categories: fiction, poetry, and nonfiction. The competition is open to writers worldwide.

Writers can submit one piece of fiction or nonfiction up to 8,500 words or any number of poems between 6 to 12 pages.

Entries must be previously unpublished.

Winners receive publication, promotion, and a cash prize. Winners will be announced in early 2025.

Each entrant receives a one-year subscription to the Missouri Review in digital format.

We are keen to encourage quality, so suggest writers to check their stories before submitting using Prowritingaid. They have free and paid versions and are the best writing software we know to help improve grammar, readability and check for repetition, ‘sticky’ sentences and suggest alternatives.
