The Yeovil Literary Prize 2026 is organised by Yeovil Community Arts Association, a UK-based arts group that runs an annual international writing competition across multiple genres and formats. The contest welcomes original literary work from writers worldwide, offering cash prizes and recognition in five distinct categories.
Submissions must be original, previously unpublished works in English by writers aged 16 or over. Each category has specific submission requirements: novel entries include a novel synopsis of up to 500 words plus the first 10,000 words of the manuscript; short stories must be up to 2,000 words; poetry submissions are capped at 40 lines; children’s and young adult novel entries consist of a 500-word synopsis plus the first 3,000 words; and the “Writing Without Restrictions” category invites creative work in any form or genre. Entries are judged anonymously, and winners are announced on the Yeovil Prize website.
Prizes vary by category, with substantial awards for top placements and additional recognition for runners-up.
Top prize: £1,350 (Novel category first prize) and other category prizes (e.g., £625 first prize for Short Story and Poetry)
