The Poetry London Prize is an internationally renowned annual competition for a single outstanding poem, organised by Poetry London Magazine, based at Goldsmiths, University of London. The 2026 prize is judged by poet and author Seán Hewitt, with the winning poems published in the Autumn 2026 issue of Poetry London and on the magazine’s website.
The competition is open to poets anywhere in the world. Entrants may submit as many poems as they wish, each accompanied by the appropriate entry fee. Poems must be original, unpublished, and not previously entered in another competition. They must be written in English and must not exceed 80 lines (excluding titles and blank lines). There are no restrictions on theme, subject, or form. A limited number of free entries are available for writers from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds.
The prize fund totals £8,000: £5,000 for first place, £2,000 for second, and £1,000 for third. Winners will be notified by the end of September 2026, with prizes awarded at the Autumn launch reading in London.
