The Montreal International Poetry Prize is run by the Department of English at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
The Montreal Prize awards one prize of $20,000 CAD to a poet for a single poem of forty or fewer lines. All entries must be previously unpublished and simultaneous submissions are permitted.
A jury of internationally reputed poets and critics selects a shortlist of approximately sixty poems, from which a judge chooses one winner. The shortlist is published in The Montreal Poetry Prize Anthology.
All finalists will be published online and included in The Montreal Poetry Prize Anthology 2026. Finalists will also receive one free copy of the Montreal Prize anthology.
The finalists and winners of the Montreal International Poetry Prize will be announced in September and October of the competition year.
