The Far Horizons Award for Poetry is organised by The Malahat Review, a literary magazine published by the University of Victoria in Canada. The prize is offered every two years and recognises outstanding individual poems by poets who have not yet published a book of poetry.
Submissions must be in English and consist of up to three individual poems per entry, each poem not exceeding 60 lines (excluding spaces between stanzas). All entries are judged anonymously, and there are no restrictions on subject matter or aesthetic approach. Entrants must not have published a book of poetry; publication in journals or magazines is permitted.
The award is international, open to writers worldwide who meet the eligibility criteria. Winning poems are published in The Malahat Review magazine and the author receives a cash prize.
One winner receives CAD $1,250 and publication in The Malahat Review.
