Event Details
The Florida Review Editor’s Prizes are organised annually by The Florida Review at the University of Central Florida, a respected literary journal that publishes fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. The prizes recognise outstanding individual entries in each genre and offer publication in the print journal alongside cash awards.
Submissions must be written in English and previously unpublished. For prose (fiction and creative nonfiction), writers may submit up to 30 pages (approximately 9,000 words) of text in a single document; for poetry, entrants may submit up to 5 poems. Manuscripts should contain only titles (no identifying information) to ensure blind judging, and entrants must include contact information separately in the submission form or cover letter. All work submitted is considered for publication in The Florida Review.
The competition is international and open to writers worldwide. Writers may enter in one or more genres (fiction, creative nonfiction, or poetry), selecting the appropriate category at submission. Winners and frequently one or more finalists in each category are selected by the editorial team.
Each genre winner receives $1,000 and publication in The Florida Review. Finalists may also be published or recognised at the editors’ discretion.
Is this competition legit?YES! – Based on our research this event is legitimate and the organizer is well established. However, as with any event, please remember to do your own research before submitting your work.
