The Bridport Prize 2026

The Bridport Prize is one of the most prestigious awards in the literary world. It is run by the Bridport Arts Centre in Bridport, England.

The competition has five categories: Poetry, Short Story, Flash Fiction, Novel, and Memoir. The event is open to unpublished writers of any nationality, provided they’re writing in English and aged 16 or over at the time of submission.

• Poetry: £5,000
• Short story: £5,000
• Flash fiction: £1,000
• Novel Award: £1,500
• Memoir: £1,500

Winners (and sometimes shortlisted authors) are also awarded publication in the Bridport Prize anthology – an important credit that can help get attention from agents or publishers.
