The Rigel Contest 2026 is organised by Sunspot Lit, the online arm of Sunspot Literary Journal, a U.S.-based literary publication that hosts a series of international contests for writers, poets, and artists. The Rigel Contest seeks the single piece — whether a short story, poem, graphic novel excerpt, novel/novella excerpt, or visual artwork — that “outshines all the rest,” with winners receiving cash and publication.
The competition is international, open to writers and artists worldwide whose submitted pieces meet the category limits and language requirement. Entries are judged anonymously, and selected finalists may also be offered publication alongside the winner. Winners and published pieces appear in Sunspot Lit’s digital quarterly edition and annual print edition.
Prizes:
- Rigel Winner: $100 cash and publication in Sunspot Lit
- Finalists: Publication offered for selected entries
