The Never Too Late 60+ Award is an additional annual accolade presented as part of The Bridport Prize, an international creative writing competition administered by Bridport Arts Centre in the UK. It celebrates the achievements of writers aged 60 and over, recognising excellence across all the main Bridport Prize categories – poetry, short story, flash fiction, and novel.
Writers enter this award automatically when they submit to one of the Bridport Prize categories (poetry, short story, flash fiction, or novel) and tick the eligibility box confirming they are aged 60+. The submitted work must be original and previously unpublished and adheres to the rules and word/line limits of the main category entered. Entrants must submit via the Bridport Prize entry system by the main competition deadline.
The award is international and open to writers worldwide who are aged 60 or older at the time of submission and participating in any of the qualifying Bridport Prize categories. Winners are selected based on overall ranking within the respective category competitions; the highest-placed eligible entrant across all applicable categories receives the award.
