The IHS International Haiku Competition offers prizes of Euro 200, Euro 60, and Euro 40 for unpublished haiku/senryu in English. In addition there will be up to seven Highly Commended haiku/senryu. Entrants may win more than one prize.
The event is organized by the Irish Haiku Society, a not-for-profit organisation promoting the writing and appreciation of haiku in Ireland. It organises readings, ginko, workshops and other haiku-related events.
Entrants may submit an unlimited number of haiku/senryu in any language.
Haiku/senryu of 17 syllables or fewer are eligible for the competition. Free-form and experimental haiku are also welcome. All haiku must be the original work of a living author. They must not have been previously published, self-published, published on an edited or unedited website, or have won a prize, or Honourable Mention, at a haiku contest.
We are keen to encourage quality, so suggest writers to check their stories before submitting using Prowritingaid. They have free and paid versions and are the best writing software we know to help improve grammar, readability and check for repetition, ‘sticky’ sentences and suggest alternatives.
