Edinburgh True Flash Award

The Edinburgh True Flash Award celebrates memoirs, creative non-fiction, and auto-fiction told in artful, original ways that entertain and amaze, bring us to tears or leave us outraged.

The event is open to all writers worldwide, published and unpublished, who are over 16 years. Entries can be on any theme or subject and must be written in English. Entries must not have been previously published in print or online, been broadcast or won a prize.

First Prize: £500. Two commendations: £100 each. Authors of the top five true flash stories are offered publication in the Edinburgh Anthology, published every November.

Prizewinners will be announced during the Flash Bash held at the Scottish Arts Club in Edinburgh on Saturday 21 February 2026.
