The New Writers Flash Fiction Competition is open to writers from around the world, with a top prize of £1,100.

The three winning entries will be published on the NewWriters.org.uk website and in a future New Writers Anthology.

There is no specific theme. Stories can be about any subject or incorporate any theme or genre, although the organizer prefers stories that are likely to appeal to adult readers (as opposed to those specifically aimed at children).

£1 from each entry will be donated to First Story (England’s leading creative writing charity for young people).

A limited number of free entries for low-income writers are available. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We are keen to encourage quality, so suggest writers to check their stories before submitting using Prowritingaid. They have free and paid versions and are the best writing software we know to help improve grammar, readability and check for repetition, ‘sticky’ sentences and suggest alternatives.
