TWTW Summer Short Story Competition

Event Details

After a successful first year of competitions in 2019, hosting a range of competitions from flash fiction, The 8 Word Story, and FairyTails (Pet inspired fantastical fantasy) The Wit To Woo is running its second Summer Short Story Competition. Last years ‘Summer Writes’ competition attracted over 200 applicants from the local writing community here in Cornwall in the UK and from family and friends of Cornwall across the seas.

This year we are very excited to be inviting submissions from wordsmiths online, rather than just in our local area, to write up to 5000 words on any fictional subject or theme they wish and in any genre. (No Children’s Stories though please). Let you imagination run riot, or maybe you have been using the time in lock down to express your creativity.

All entries must be your original work, in English and formatted as per our rules on the website. If you are entering multiple competitions and are successful in getting placed elsewhere please notify us right away.

This years winner will have their story published not only on our website but in our First Anthology of short stories that is due for release later in the year. The prize fund is set currently at £500, but as we are opening the competition up to more applicants, we would aim to increase the purse inline with submission levels. Please keep an eye on the website or subscribe to receive updates.

Submission is easy via our website or by postal delivery, please make sure you pay the appropriate postage fee, and any entries arriving after the closing date will not be entered into the judging.

The judges this year, so far confirmed, include a published self help author, a marketing and Story Brand mogul as well as an accomplished play write and lecturer. (see website for more information)

We look forward to reading your stories, and the winner will be announced by September 30th. The Short list will be published to the website after winners have been notified.
