Saints & Sinners LGBTQ Fiction Contest

Event Details

The winner will be selected from this year’s submissions of original, unpublished short stories between 3,000 and 7,000 words with LGBT content on the broad theme of “Saints and Sinners.” This contest would not be possible without a generous grant from The John Burton Harter Foundation.

The 2020-2021 SAS Fiction Judge is Salem West.

Salem West
serves as publisher of Bywater Books, Inc., a queer indie press out of Ann Arbor, MI. The company is comprised of its feminist and lesbian Bywater Books imprint, as well as the Amble Press imprint which focuses on publishing writers across the LGBT+ spectrum and queer writers of color. Previously, West was the voice of The Rainbow Reader, a highly successful review blog that combined original essays with insightful analysis of all genres of LGBT literature; and served on the Board of Trustees of Lambda Literary. She is active in the queer literary community and is a sought-after facilitator for groups, panels, and events focusing on feminist and queer literature. West and her wife, Bywater author Ann McMan, collaborated on the novel Hoosier Daddy, which was a Lambda Literary Award Finalist.
