Mslexia Women’s Short Story Competition

Event Details

The competition is open to women of any nationality from any country.

The competition is organised by Mslexia, a British magazine for women writers.

Submit complete short fiction of up to 3,000 words, in any genre, for adult and/or young adult readers.

Entries should be in English or English dialect and should not have been published or accepted for publication elsewhere.

This year’s judge is the multi-award-winning novelist and short story writer A L Kennedy.

The winner will receive £3,000.

Three additional finalists will each receive £100.

The winning entry and three finalists will be published in the December 2021 edition of Mslexia.

Previous winners have gone on to publish novels (e.g. Mandy Sutter, Margaret Kirk, Anna Sayburn) and full story collections (e.g. Angela Readman) and have their stories broadcast on radio, including Cherise Saywell’s extraordinary ‘Pieces of Mars have fallen to Earth’.
