Event Details

The Esk Valley Trains take a scenic route between Middlesbrough and Whitby, stopping frequently on the way. The minimum time between stations is three minutes.

We are looking for short stories that, read aloud, might enrich an already delightful journey with a touch of drama, intrigue, insight – or some other engaging quality.

Five hundred words is the maximum allowed, but the theme is entirely yours to choose. That said, you might like to bear in mind the Esk Valley Community Earth Festival, running from Earth Day on the 22nd April until Saturday 8th July; up to three winning stories will be read at the Glaisdale Mini-Arts Fest on 3rd June, which will be a Festival event.

The winning stories – and possibly others – will also be read at a later date on the trains – but never without you being notified first.
